Roger Bickerstaff (United Kingdom) is joint head of Bird & Bird's International IT Sector Group.
He specialises in all aspects of information technology law, particularly advising clients in connection with large-scale infrastructure contracts, including contract negotiation and procurement procedures, contract management issues and dispute resolution.
Roger has over 15 years experience of advising on large-scale IT projects. This wealth of experience means that he understands the issues that arise in major projects and can provide the solutions to resolve these issues. He now fulfils the role of trusted advisor on a range of significant projects, providing advice that goes well beyond legal and contractual matters, and into the technical and commercial heart of the success of the implementation of projects.
Roger is recognised as being a leading exponent of IT law and is regularly cited within the legal directories. Roger has a particular expertise in EC procurement law issues. He is a Trustee of the Society for Computers of Law and he sits on the Editorial Board of the Public Procurement Law Review.
He regularly publishes and speaks on a variety of IT law and public procurement topics. His recent contributions have been on the theme of Proactive Remedies in Outsourcing Contracts (ITechLaw, Las Vegas April 2008), New Approaches to Online Privacy – Towards a “Privacy Commons” (Society for Computers and Law, London May 2008), Local Focus in Global Outsourcing Projects (Finnish Information Technology Association, Helsinki March 2008).
